PT NORTHWEST HELPS
SUPER BOWL CHAMPION ACHIEVE HIS DREAM
Kevin has often been described as a "gentle giant," yet he is not afraid to do what is necessary to fight his opponents with pure skill and strength. Prior to the summer of 2007, Kevin dislocated his shoulder with an outstretched arm resulting in a Bankart's Labral Tear along with other shoulder joint stability damage. Surgery was his only option to repair the lesion of the labrum followed by physical therapy to rehabilitate his shoulder and regain strength and stability. Kevin was referred by his surgeon to PT Northwest to begin his shoulder rehabilitation in the summer of 2007. Jason Ball, MSPT is the Director of PT Northwest in Corvallis and began Kevin's journey of healing as Kevin's primary physical therapist. Jason is a Certified Sports Specialist who works with a wide variety of patients, and is no stranger to Kevin's diagnosis. Consistent effort and the drive from both patient and therapist for a return to football were huge influences for Kevin being drafted in the fifth round by the New York Giants.
Kevin has often told Jason "Thank you for saving my career!" and has also stated that without PT Northwest and Jason Ball, he probably wouldn't have been able to return to football. Kevin's family is also grateful to Jason for assisting with returning their "Gentle Giant" to the game of football.

Jason enjoyed working with Kevin because of "his commitment to himself and his rehabilitation." Our 6'7" physical therapist is a Gentle Giant himself and has a gentle, but assertive approach towards the many athletes that he has worked with. However, this time his approach was slightly more aggressive to ensure that Kevin met his strict timeline. Kevin was invited to participate in the NFL Combine which would affect his draft status. He had a short amount of time to regain and improve his competitive edge to be demonstrated during the Combine. Jason recalls with a smile on his face," Kevin put up with an hour of torture very well. He knew we had to be aggressive because of the time crunch." Kevin makes a point to stop by our Corvallis clinic to see his friend/therapist, Jason, whenever he is in town. It is quite obvious that there is a strong, mutual respect between these two giants.
Our very own Kevin Boss was a major contributor
to the New York Giant’s win over the New England Patriots.
Kevin had a great season and rookie year with the New York Giants which he began as Jeremy Shockey's back up. Shockey broke his leg and Kevin, along with his newly rehabilitated shoulder, were ready to step in as the Giant's starting tight end. Our very own Kevin Boss was a major contributor to the New York Giant's win over the New England Patriots. Kevin had a great 43 yard catch during the Super Bowl. Our local football hero and former patient of PT Northwest is an example to us all what teamwork, drive and determination can do for each of us. Some may see a Bankart's labral tear as an end to a dream, but Kevin and Jason saw it as an opportunity to face a challenge, defeat it and become stronger than ever before.
