PELVIC FLOOR PHYSICAL THERAPY

Pelvic floor physical therapists are trained to evaluate and treat many kinds of pelvic dysfunctions in men, women, and children.  These dysfunctions can relate to the pelvic floor muscles that assist with pelvic organ support, bowel and bladder continence, as well as sexual appreciation.  Treating the pelvic floor muscles may help you regain control over acute or chronic symptoms.

Pelvic Therapy may include:

  • Thorough external musculoskeletal evaluation
  • Internal vaginal or rectal assessment of your pelvic floor muscles
  • Biofeedback assessment of these muscles
  • Pelvic floor muscle education
  • Dietary/behavioral modifications and education
  • Exercise to relax pelvic muscle tension or to strengthen these muscles
  • Manual therapy, such as soft tissue work, trigger point release, and stretching affected muscles

Pelvic Therapy Services are offered at our South Salem and West Salem locations. If you would like more information, please contact Erin DeVoy, DPT, Director of Women's Health and Pelvic Therapy Programs, at 503.391.5542 or email Erin.
